Football for hope
FIFA believes that football is more than a game. Football can unite people, inspire and transform entire communities. Due to its universality, it opens up new opportunities for non-profit organisations that use this sport as an instrument of social development. To fully reveal the potential of football, in 2005, FIFA launched the Football for Hope initiative. Now it is one of the most important programmes of FIFA, which provides financial, material and informational support to non-profit organisations, taking the game as the basis of their social projects. It collaborates with social workers, using the potential of football to help people: in the first 10 years of the programme’s existence, FIFA supported and financed 450 social projects in 78 countries. Over time, the programme also became a platform for the exchange of experience in the field of social development through football.
In Russia, the implementation of this programme has began in 2017. For this purpose, FIFA and the Local Organising Committee Russia 2018 elect non-profit organisations to cooperate with in Russian cities.
